You’re saying your next album of original material will be your last - surely you’re joking? What are the odds you'll change your mind?
I would like my next album to be my last of original songs. I think a lot of artists get to a point where they find they are just repeating themselves in different ways. Some don’t know when to stop. I have had a few songs hanging around for a while that I’ve never recorded or recorded properly and a bunch of new songs that I’ve been working on. I’d like to do just a very bare album with minimal instrumentation or maybe with the flavour of Mother Fist, Torment And Toreros or Heart On Snow that really just pleases me and, I hope, others too. It will likely be a double album to tie things off. This won’t be the end of my recording career by far. There are many great songs by better songwriters I would like to sing. I’m working on my Russian album of Kozin songs and, to be a little more mainstream, I plan an album of Aznavour songs or a Brecht album (mainstream?). I may also write the odd original song for a project or collaboration but the world really doesn’t need any more Marc Almond songs.

Have you got any more books planned?
There are no more books planned. I may update Tainted Life at some point.

How did you make your choices for your covers LP?
With great difficulty. I listened to many, many songs. I tried to choose a selection that would feature a mix of classic more known songs and personal favourites but each one had to have relevance to me and my life in some way. Some are obvious, some are more abstract but in their way they tell my story, or some of it at least, like a musical.

Could you name 5 living people you would invite to a dinner party?
Sorry, can’t think of many living people! Maybe Tracy Emin, Kenneth Anger, Lindsay Kemp, Courtney Love, a lot of eye candy that shall remain nameless, err……
Lot’s of dead people though! Nijinsky, Valentino, Dirk Bogarde, Queen Elizabeth The First, Josephine Baker, Tallulah Bankhead, John Genet, Edith Piaf, Catherine The Great, Caligula, Johnny Ray, Judy Garland, Kenneth Williams, Charles Dickens – oh, to hell with it, let’s have a party! A party of dead people!

Do you have new plans for collaborating with Dave Ball? Is it true that there is a version of "Sincerity" with your vocals?
There are no plans but never ever say never! Sincerity? I can’t remember to be honest.
From: Yvonne Ruth King
What has been the most challenging and self-rewarding project that you have encountered artistically?
Probably Heart On Snow because it was such a privilege to work in Russia with such incredible people. It was an adventure and it still goes on. Most albums have a personal adventure attached to them though and I can look at most projects affectionately. It depends what I learned and experienced and what it brought to my life.
From: Candace Richards
There has been a huge variety in the styles you have beautifully written and sung, has there been a favourite or most rewarding era of your career so far?
See above! And my new album, Stardom Road, now I’ve heard it all sounds pretty fabulous to my ears!
From: Robert Ryan
what will be your best memory of the year and what will be your worst?
Finally getting back on stage for shows in Greece and Moscow, finishing my album finally and improving in my recovery. My worst is not improving enough and the nightmare that still goes on.
From: Rosenda Elizabeth Moore
Did your creative focus change at all after the events of the past year? And in what way?
In strange ways. Enjoying life has been of importance and that has not always been easy over the past two years. Chilling out more and not chasing the same things. Caring less about trivial things and craving the spotlight. Accepting who I am and where I am. Avoiding as much as possible to be a celebrity and all that entails. Becoming more spiritual (NOT religious).

What is the best thing you can do this Christmas that you couldn't do last Christmas?
Relax and enjoy myself more.
From: Ian Perryman
Now that the festive season is almost upon us, and that you once recorded "Christmas In Vegas", would you ever consider releasing a Christmas album (albeit with a unique Marc flavour)?
With Christmas albums you’re getting dangerously close to cosy Perry Como territory. And schmaltz. My Christmas album would be quite dark so it’s best not to go there. However…
From: Tony Carmichael
What is your most memorable moment performance wise of 2006?
On stage in Moscow and Athens, singing at Manchester Mardi Gras with the legendary Beverly Callard. Me onstage with Liz Macdonald!!! Overcoming an obstacle singing on live radio at the Dusty Springfield tribute and singing with David McAlmont, one of my favourite singers.
From: Andy Donovan
On your forthcoming album 'Stardom Road' I read you have recorded a duet with Sarah Cracknell. Is it true and how did the idea come about?
It’s true. I’ve done ‘I Close My Eyes And Count To Ten’, the Dusty Springfield classic as a duet with Sarah. We wanted to get the song away from the distinctive Dusty version but still have that nod to the 60’s girl singer sound which Sarah does, she’s brilliant.
From: Eamonn Foley
What is your biggest unrealised ambition?
Getting back on the London Stage again, I'm working on it and things are taking shape for next Year.

Happy Christmas and Happy 2007 and thank you for your support, messages and gifts.
Next year is my 50th birthday (yes, I admit it!) so I hope it'll be a year of celebration.
Love
